The Woodlands, Texas (Montgomery County Monitor) - At 11:20 p.m. Thursday night, units from The Woodlands Fire Department responded to a residential fire on Hornsilver Place in The Woodlands, Texas.
9-1-1 calls indicated flames were showing from a two story structure.
Once firefighters arrived on-scene, they confirmed it was a working fire and they also indicated there was one burn victim on location and possibly another individual still in the house.
An air ambulance was dispatched to transport the 30-year old male burn victim while firefighters entered rescue mode to search for the possibly entrapped person.
Due to another nearly simultaneous fire call in The Woodlands off of Palmer Crest, Montgomery County Sheriff Officer's and Timber Lakes Volunteer Fire Department were asked to assist in establishing a landing zone for the burn patient.
Fifteen minutes after the initial call, a second alarm was pulled. The second alarm brought in additional personnel from surrounding fire districts.
Approximately 30 minutes after the initial call, on-scene command made the decision to go into a strictly defensive mode. Personnel evacuated the structure and a high volume deck-gun was used to apply water to the structure.
Nearly an hour after the initial call, fire crews re-entered the structure to continue to fight the fire.
The suspected entrapped victim, a 23-year old female, was later found deceased inside the house.
The Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
Agencies at the scene included fire departments from: The Woodlands, Needham, South County and Magnolia. Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and Montgomery County Hospital District personnel also assisted on-scene.
