A Ford Mustang traveling west on Lake Woodlands left the road and struck two trees in the median before coming to rest.
The lone occupant of the vehicle, a 27 year-old male, was transported by air ambulance to a Houston treatment facility. He was briefly entrapped in the vehicle and was reportedly suffering from head injuries as well as possible internal injuries.
Initial data collected on-scene indicates the driver lost control approximately 200 feet from the vehicle's point of impact with the trees. The force of the collision caused extensive intrusion of the passenger-side door into the cab of the vehicle.
Additional data implies the vehicle likely was traveling faster than the 35 MPH posted speed limit when the accident occurred.
Some witnesses reported seeing another vehicle behind the Mustang just before the incident.
Agencies on scene included The Woodlands Fire Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and Montgomery County Hospital District.
