Radio traffic indicated the patient was a 31 year-old male.
According to North Montgomery County Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief, Jeff McDonald, a male was injured diving off a pier while at Ayers Island on Lake Conroe. While bystanders provided CPR to the man, North Montgomery County firefighters made their way to the scene in a rescue boat. Patient care was transferred to firefighters and Montgomery County Hospital District medics. The patient was taken by boat to the Seven Coves Marina.
Due to the patients serious head injuries and drowning/near drowning, a PHI Air Ambulance was dispatched to transport the patient downtown.
Montgomery Fire Department arrived on-scene at the marina to establish a landing zone for the helicopter.
Once the patient arrived at the marina, he was stabilized in a ground ambulance then transferred to the air ambulance.
According to McDonald the patient was in urgent condition.
