Montgomery County, Texas:
In the early morning hours of June 9, 2008, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office was called to a residence in the 2100 block of Stillwater in the Montgomery, Texas area reference a shooting incident (Key Map 182R).
When deputies arrived they found that an eight (8) year old male child visiting the home had been accidentally shot by a fifteen (15) year old friend. The victim was shot with a .22 cal pistol through the arm and into the abdomen. The child was Life Flighted to Herman Memorial where he has been listed in critical condition.
Investigators have learned that the victim frequents the home and that the two juveniles are very close friends. The mother of the 15 year-old was home, but was asleep in her room. Investigators believe that while the boys were examining the handgun the gun discharged accidentally striking the 8 year-old victim.
No charges have been filed, but the case remains under investigation. All facts will be forwarded to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office for review when completed.
